Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in which you make a list of ten to do with a certain topic. This weeks topic is“Top Ten Books I’ve Recently Added To My TBR”.
I was originally going to just pick the last ten books I added onto my TBR to talk about but because I already mentioned a few of them in my Most Anticipated November Releases post I decided to just pick ten of the books I’ve added to my TBR in the last two/three months that I’m most excited to get to and talk about them.
The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson
I finished the first two books in this trilogy last month and whilst I had mixed feelings about the first book, I absolutely loved the second. I’m looking forward to seeing which direction the story heads in during the final book because everyone that I know who has read this series already are all saying the final book is the best one in the trilogy.
Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas
I’ve been wanting to read more mystery books lately so when I heard about this one I didn’t hesitate to add it to my TBR. It’s about a girl who tries to find out who brutally murdered her best friend. I’ve heard the ending is shocking and unexpected so I’m very excited to see if I can figure out the ending whilst reading it (I probably won’t be able to since I suck at guessing the direction a mystery is going in).
The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead
This is a historical fiction book about the underground railroad, which I believe was a route to help slaves escape in America. I may be wrong but I do believe the railroad was metaphorical, but in this Whitehead makes it real. I’ve seen reviews saying this book is brutal and at times hard to read, but I think that’s a testament to how accurate it must be and how Whitehead doesn’t shy away from a harsh reality.
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
I don’t know too much about this but I’ve seen a lot of positive reviews for it recently and it had me curious so I added it to my TBR. I do believe it’s about a man who wakes up one day and his life is completely different to what it’s supposed to be and so he tries to find a way back to his reality. Like I mentioned earlier, I’ve been wanting to read more mysteries lately so hopefully I can pick this up soon.
Still Star-Crossed by Melinda Taub
So a few months ago I saw a trailer for a new TV Show. The show appeared to be about what happened between the Montagues and Capulets after Romeo and Juliet died. I recently tweeted about the show asking if anyone knew when it was airing because it looked so good and I wanted to watch it. Then someone very kindly pointed out to me that it’s actually based of off a book. So, naturally I had to add it to my TBR because the concept seems so interesting and the reviews were pretty good too.
An Unrestored Woman by Shobha Rao
I believe this is a collection of short stories that focus on Indian and Pakistani women after India was separated into two countries. I’m of Pakistani descent, yet I feel like I know very little about this conflict, so I’m really hoping to learn something by reading this.
The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee
I originally added this to my TBR after participating in a twitter chat all about it. I did end up removing it from my TBR when I was trying to cut it down to a more manageable number but I decided to readd it recently. This book has been described as a sci-fi version of Gossip Girl. I like GG so I’m curious to see if I like this too.
Alienated by Melissa Landers
This is another one I recently readded to my TBR. I originally added this back when it first came out because everyone was reading and loving it. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to it and I lost interest in the concept. However, recently I decided I may still read it at some point so I readded.
The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemsin
I haven’t heard too much about this book before but literally as I was writing this post someone mentioned this on twitter and said it was a diverse fantasy so I had to add it to my TBR. I don’t know when I’ll get to this, but hopefully it’ll be soon.
Under A Painted Sky by Stacey Lee
I already mentioned this book in my November TBR post since this is my book clubs November book of the month. I’m hopefully going to read this either next or the book after that. Also, can we take a moment to talk about this cover because it’s stunning?
What books have you recently added to your TBR? Have you read any of the books I mentioned above? What dd you think of them? Tell me in the comments!
